Chiropractors are primary care physicians-meaning we are qualified by the State of California to diagnose. Therefore, Physical Exams Forms for State Disability,Department of Motor Vehicles, etc. have a box for Doctors of Chiropractic for the Public to choose.

Like any family medical doctor- following your exam, Dr. Kofman is responsible for giving you his professional opinion on paper and explaining it to you as well as answering any questions. Thereafter, he will advise you of his opinion as to the best approach regarding your diagnosis. Any testing recommendations will be in order to arrive at a more precise diagnosis. If, after examination, Dr. Kofman feels it is neccesary to refer the patient out to a different health care provider he will not hesitate to do so.

Dr. Kofman was on the Emergency Room staff of St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank for six years from, 1983-1988. There he developed close working relationships with many local physicians of numerous specialties. Nevertheless, Valley Village Chiropractic is equipped with the latest diagnostic tools available in any doctors office. In fact, he has been at the Chiropractic forefront of in-office diagnostics for the past few years and has been featured as a guest speaker at Chiropractic seminars and consulted for both Medical and Chiropractic physicians on this subject.

Practice Message:

The qualifications of your chiropractor is not just what's on the wall(although it's a recommended starting point) but rather what he/she has on the ball. This doctor's office will not advertise because we have developed this practice through" referral only" for the past sixteen years. Nevertheless, we believe in serving the immediate needs of the surrounding communities and will accept walk-ins for appointments.

Dr. Kofman is not only bi-lingual but worked part-time as a professional translator through High School('77-'78) and while earning a degree in Spanish during his Pre-Med studies at Pepperdine University,Malibu('81-'85).

He holds a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic(86-'90) from Southern California College
of Chiropractic. He started his first practice in 1990 with Dr. M. Noah, Head of Emergency Medicine at Martin Luther King Hospital('90-present). In 1991, He became the first California Chiropractor to complete Post-Graduate Certification in Manipulation under Anesthesia in the country's first & foremost M.U.A. program at Texas College of Chiropractic.

Early in Dr.Kofman's Chiropractic career he made his mark by pioneering Manipulation Under Anesthesia in California in 1991. He was featured on KCAL Channel 9 News several times for this technique. In 1992 he developed the Valley's first Chiropractic Department in a hospital at Thompson Memorial Hospital in Burbank. Since 1993 he has performed this procedure at the beautiful facilities of The Beverly Hills Surgi-Center.

In 1995 Dr. Kofman achieved another first by becoming the only San Fernando Valley Chiropractor to receive certification of advanced standing with world's most highly regarded research institute for low-speed automobile collisions at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego(SRISD.com)

In the previous few years Dr. Kofman became interested in pushing the envelope of his personal chiropractic technique-- which he had perfected through his work with chronic pain. He decided to apply these techniques to the repetitive injuries of his patients who were young local athletes. Soon, those athletes referred others. Since, Dr. Kofman has served several local High School Varsity sport teams as their Sports Doc. Most recently, Dr. Kofman was honored by serving as the Team Physician for the 2003 Daily News Bernie Milligin Southern California High School Baseball All-Star Game.

Thereafter, Dr. Kofman's attention turned to the field of spinal surgery techniques and it's instrumentation. His intention was to dispel misinformation and assist his patients and/or consult/advise others so as to make the most informed decision possible at this most difficult juncture of a patient's decision making process.

For this he has turned to his colleague, Harvard Medical School Graduate and Harvard Clinical Professor in Spinal surgery, Dr. Richard Ozuna. Since 2003,about once or twice a year, Dr. Kofman spends valuable hours alongside Dr. Ozuna in the operating room, consulting with current cases and collaborating with patient examinations with Dr. Ozuna in a number of Boston's finest hospitals and in his Boston private practices.

In winter 2004 Dr. Ozuna introduced Dr. Kofman to U.C.L.A.'s Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery,Dr. Jeffrey Wang. Having observed Dr. Wang's work Dr. Kofman feels confident Dr. Wang's surgical skills are of the highest caliber but, like Dr. Ozuna, reserves surgery only as a last resort.

Today, A recognized expert in Soft-Tissue Analysis and treatment, Dr. Kofman's hands-on skills continue earning him recognition. Most Recently, by the hard working cast & crew of several current Hollywood Television & Film hits.
